5 Videos That Build Trust Around Your Business

When I first started this video production company I used to run ads on Google and I would always think about the dilemma, why would anyone choose my company over the dozens or hundreds of alternatives in the area? And it’s kind of funny because at the beginning I did not have much going for me, but I was able to showcase something on my website that allowed many businesses to trust that I would deliver on what they were in search of, and it really all boiled down to the videos I had on my website.

Your customers have to believe that your company will be the answer to their problems.

They have to trust you. And there is no better way right now to build trust than with video.

Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve received some bad publicity lately and want to change the tides, in this post we’ll dive into 5 videos that will build trust around your business and make it easier for your customers to purchase from you and for candidates to want to work for you.

Testimonial videos

A video testimonial is a video showcasing a client success story. In most cases, this is some form of interview where the client is asked a series of questions to uncover their experience with the product or service. These can be recorded in person at your client’s location, remotely, or even by self-recording.

There is truly no better way to sell your product or service than with a happy customer. They speak the same language as your prospective customers, and it’s far easier for them to trust the message since it’s coming from a third-party source. This type of content reassures prospective clients that they are making the right choice.

These types of videos are very versatile and can be used all throughout your marketing and sales efforts. Here are a few ways that video testimonials are frequently used:

  • Landing pages or homepage

  • Product or service pages

  • Social Media

  • Trade shows and events

  • During sales calls or presentations

Brand story videos

A brand story video is a video that tells your story and quickly gives the viewer an overview of your business. They are able to learn what problem you are solving, who your customers are, and what your values are, all while meeting the founders or key team members.

This type of video is very versatile and can be used for many different purposes. Think of it like a business card. You hand this video out to everyone looking to learn more about your company. Here are some more ways they can be utilized:

  • Homepage and About page

  • When seeking investment

  • Recruitment

  • During sales calls or presentations

  • Trade Shows and events

Educational video content

Educational video content is all about providing value to your audience by offering useful tips, sharing industry updates, and helping your customers get the most out of your product or service.

By consistently creating valuable content, you'll establish yourself as an expert in your industry. So, when it's time for them to make a purchase, who do you think they'll trust first? Also, making this kind of video content comes with a ton of benefits, such as increasing brand awareness, improving SEO, and reaching people outside of your local area.

Educational video content can take various forms, depending on your audience and available resources. Here are a few examples:

  • Weekly 3-10 minute YouTube videos

  • Bi-weekly 1-hour podcasts

  • 2-minute Instagram videos

  • 1-minute engaging TikTok videos

Vlog

A vlog is a video style that showcases the life of an individual, a group, or a company in a documentary style of filming. It can be self-recorded or involve hiring a videographer to capture daily activities and experiences.

If your company is consistently involved in exciting activities, has lots of drama or has a charismatic founder, a vlog is a great way to build a loyal following around your brand. One way to do this is to have a videographer shadow the company and capture everything that happens. It’s a great way to show behind the scenes and allow people to be a part of the journey. This kind of transparency is very powerful in building trust.

This could take the form of a 1 to 10-minute video series released on a weekly or daily basis.

A great example of this is from a company here in Montreal called Mid-Day Squares. Throughout their journey of building their business, they have showcased not only the successes but also the challenges. It’s like a TV show, where you get to know the characters and you start rooting for them to win.

Behind-the-scenes content

Behind-the-scenes content can come in different forms, depending on your business. The key point of this type of content is to be transparent, because transparency equals trust.

A real-world example of this is Siempre Tequila making a video to showcase the production process of their tequila. You know the old saying “Show, don’t tell“. This type of video highlights the unique aspects of their process and helps justify the price to their consumers.
